Susan Riker Bio:
Susan has been a member of Christ the King Parish since her arrival in Jacksonville, FL in 1973. Her daughter and two sons each attended Christ the King Catholic School and went on to Bishop Kenny High School. During that time Susan served very actively as a Parent Volunteer at the school and within several ministries of Christ the King Church.
Susan now has nine grandchildren and considers each one to be a true blessing in her life. (Her blessings will increase with the birth of her tenth grandchild in the Spring.) She says it is a joy to watch the next generation experience the blessings of our Christ the King community and she has once again become actively involved with two grandchildren attending Christ the King School, one grandchild attending Christ the King Child Care and one grandchild attending Morning Star School.
Susan became part of the staff of Christ the King Parish in 1999 working in both the school and rectory offices. In Susan’s words, “It has been my privilege and pleasure to be surrounded by many wonderful people during this time. While working at the school, I especially loved to take prospective families on a tour of the school to share the rich history and development which makes the school such a vital part of Christ the King Parish.”
In 2004 Susan was re-assigned to the rectory office full-time as the Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper. She is responsible for assisting the Parish Administrator and handling Human Resource matters, financial matters and assisting with special projects as they arise.
When asked about her job, Susan happily replies, “I don’t consider my daily work a ‘job’, but rather my daily opportunity to give back the best of my talents and abilities for all the many blessings which have been bestowed upon me as being part of Christ the King Parish family”.
