What is the Christ the King Council of Catholic Women and how can I get involved? The Council of Catholic Women is a national organization of which the St. Augustine Diocese is an affiliate. This is an organization of women who share their time, talent and treasure with each other, their church and community. The Christ the King chapter held their first meeting in 1954. The members were young women with young children. The members had shared values and a vision of Christ the King becoming their spiritual home. The values, and many of the projects and events started in those early days, are still living today. Currently there are eight circles, which meet once a month at a time and place of their choice. Circles meet formally September through May; the council board meets the first Monday of the month, September through June. The council membership is comprised of active and members at large.
New members may join a circle of their choice or be assigned to a circle. General meetings are held four times a year with a social hour and a guest speaker. Fund raising projects include the Advent season bake sale and raffle and the sale of Mother's Day and Father's Day cards. Money raised supports donations to various charity organizations, Christ the King school, and provides funds for a yearly project to improve our church. The annual Valentine's Day card party and luncheon is a social event with special and always unique entertainment. Our Christmas season event includes a beautiful candle light living rosary, good food and fellowship. The council is women working together to do wondrous things. Come join us.
